Social Skills Therapy

Peers ® Social Skills Curriculum is one of only a few evidenced based social skill curriculums available. The NDAC Director is the only Adolescent Certified Treatment Group Provider in the state of North Dakota. This curriculum will target learning about the following skills:

– Developing and Maintaining Friendships

– Conversational Skills

– Entering and Exiting Conversations

– Electronic Communication

– Using Humor Appropriately 

– Organizing Get Togethers

– Being a Good Sport

– Handling Disagreements

– Changing a Bad Reputation

– Handling Teasing and Bullying

The topics above can be learned in a variety of formats and learning contexts that best fit your child.

Peers One to One

Your child will learn all of the above skills at their own pace one-on-one with a trained behavior technician and supervision from a trained BCBA.

Peers Small Group

A group of 2-5 peers with similar ages and beginning skills sets can be grouped together to learn the above skills in a small group format with 1-2 behavior technician assistants and supervision from a BCBA. The BCBA or behavior teach will lead the group through didactic instruction, role-play demonstrations, and have the opportunity to practice the skills through behavioral rehearsal exercises with direct coaching from the behavior techs in the room.

 

Peers Large Group

A group of 6-8 adolescents with similar interests, skills sets and ages can be grouped together to learn the above skills in a small group format with 1-2 behavior technician assistants and oversight of a BCBA leading the group through didactic instruction, role-play demonstrations, and have the opportunity to practice the skills through behavioral rehearsal exercises with direct coaching from the behavior techs in the room, along with social skills missions to complete outside of the social skills session.

 

Peers Telehealth

One on one or a small group of 2-5 peers can complete the above skills with a behavior technician present and BCBA leading the group by utilizing didactic lessons, role-play demonstrations, video demonstrations and practice during online socialization activities will be completed during a peers social skills group telehealth session.

Peers Bootcamp

Peers Bootcamps are designed to teach evidence-based social skills to anyone interested in learning more about one specific skill (from the list above), attendees can include adolescents, adults, families, practitioners and educators. Attendees are presented with targeted skills through didactic instruction, role-play demonstrations and behavioral rehearsal exercises.
